About the project
The case, start to finish
Canitagus is a plumbing company working on new builds, repairs and renovations. The problem was the usual one in this trade: good work, zero online presence. People searching for a plumber couldn't find them, and people who arrived through word of mouth had no way to confirm they were a real, established business.
The goal of the site was never to be pretty for the sake of it. It was to answer the three questions a customer asks in the first ten seconds: do they do what I need? can I trust them? how do I reach them right now?
How I structured the site:
- A homepage with the value proposition at the top and a direct path to getting in touch
- A Services page split by the company's three real lines of work — New Builds (water and sewage installation), Repairs and Fitting (leaks, sanitary ware, taps, showers) and Renovations
- An About page to give the company a face and a history, which is where trust is earned
- A Contact page with a form, so enquiries arrive organised instead of as a missed call
Technical decisions:
- I built it in WordPress with the Astra theme and Elementor, on purpose. The client needed to be able to change text, prices and photos without calling me. A custom-coded site would have been faster, but it would have left them dependent on me.
- A contact form with an international dialling code selector. This isn't a detail: many customers in this trade are Portuguese emigrants arranging work back home from abroad.
- SEO configured from day one with All in One SEO — XML sitemap, per-page metadata and hand-written descriptions for each service, so the company shows up in local searches.
- Image compression and page caching, because a large share of visits come from phones on a weak connection.
The result is a site that works as a permanent business card: visitors understand in seconds what the company does, see that it's a serious operation, and have a button to request a quote.
