About the project
The case, start to finish
Colorful Journeys came out of exploring AI (Midjourney) for creating digital art. I opened an Etsy shop and settled on a Van Gogh-inspired style, producing a consistent collection focused on aesthetics and presentation.
The production process was methodical: I generated the images, built realistic mockups and finished everything in Photoshop, which ended up being the central tool of the project. I organised the files professionally, keeping originals and mockups separate, with a workflow where each image had 7 mockups showing how it looked framed and in real rooms.
In total I produced 100 digital images in one intense month of creating, editing and research, including money spent on tools and ad tests. Alongside that I built a presence on Pinterest and Instagram for distribution, and on Pinterest the reach hit 2 million impressions.
Although I didn't recover the initial investment, the project was hugely valuable for the execution: I learned to be more persistent, to structure a production pipeline, and to understand that when buyers exist there's real market proof — and that gives a foundation for the next project to be bigger and better.
